Media Work & Seminars
The HFA is assiduously engaged in imparting to the Muslim Community, through the media and press how to approach the halal issues in order to obtain the desired results. It is always pleasing to register that Muslims wish to consume halal, but how to obtain this is the big question. It has never been sufficient to take it for granted, if meat and poultry or foodstuffs are sold under the banner of halal signs and halal stickers.
The community wishes every item, albeit fresh or frozen food, meat or poultry, and especially the labelling on items of use to be audited and authenticated by an independent body. And this is what the Halal Food Authority is setting out to achieve, by amending the local food rules where necessary and, to implore and seek co-operation of the providers/manufacturers, and lobbying the law makers.
The HFA endorsement network is achieving this by holding meetings and seminars with slaughterhouses, distributors of meat and foodstuff, together with the manufacturers of ingredients, flavourings, additives and processors of food in general. This is to ensure that halal issues are understood by all concerned in the light of the Islamic rules, as well as local and food safety laws, and that these are compiled with.
Articles are written in reputable newspapers and journals on topics of the day and discussions are taking place on radio and other networks to highlight the halal issues and Muslim dietary laws.
As an on going programme of publicity of halal issues, the President of the HFA, among other notable places, has delivered keynote speeches in Open University, Milton Keynes (UK) and at International Trade Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on both Flavourings and Muslim Trade in Europe.
