Endorsement of Pharmaceuticals and Toiletries
he HFA halal endorsement is on contractual and licensing basis. The ingredients, specifications and method of manufacture and labelling is audited and checked by the inspectors. Particular attention is given to ethanol, alcohol and animal derivatives since these days a majority of pharmaceuticals and toiletries are made from or have some constituents, which can not be described as halal. Gelatine capsules are one example to be cited.
Method of manufacture and process of cleansing and sanitisation of the machinery is also inspected, particularly prior to and post manufacture of any non-halal products. These inspections are also part of a periodic inspection regime, carried out under the original agreement with the provider or the manufacturer.
Manufacturers or distributors of pharmaceuticals or toiletries who would like to join the HFA halal endorsement net-work are invited to telephone 020 8563 1994 for an application form.
